Provision Of Essential Oils Guide

By Nancy Gardner

Essential oils are not real oils because they lack fatty acids which are present in actual oils. A common definition of oil is any highly concentrated constituent of plants with potential medicinal and aesthetic qualities. Another common one terms the oil as the soul or life force of the plant. This article is about providing an essential oils guide.

Many of them have antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties. This means they are a great addition to cleaning preparations made locally. The best of oils to use in cleaning include extracts from rosemary, lavender, tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus, grapefruit and lemon. To test their degree of purity, a single drop is placed on construction paper. If evaporation takes place and no ring is left behind, then the product is pure. The opposite is also true.

Their molecules are quite small. This means that there rate of absorption into the skin is quite high. For these reason, many manufacturers of personal care products include them therein for healing of skin and nourishment too. Unlike other types of oil, essential oil do not pile up inside the body system on use. That is why they are used widely in body care products.

Studies done for scientific purposes show that essential oil from rosemary enhances the brain function. By just smelling this oil, your memory is improved and therefore you will perform well in tests. Also, smelling this oil or an extract of lavender induces a calming effect.

Essential oils do not mean the same as fragrance oils. The use of terms like perfume, fragrance or fragrance oil means something synthetic. Do not confuse this with essential oil because these ones are natural.

It is not possible to patent the oil. That is why they are never found in pharmacies. Many of medical practitioners therefore are not likely to substitute them for the conventional medicines. In addition, the drug manufacturing companies do not fund projects wishing to conduct studies about them . That is why little is known at the scientific level concerning them. Much of information about them is what has been developed through experimentation and local use over the generations.

The plants are required in large quantities for production of the oil. A pound of Bulgarian rose essential oil requires 4000 pounds of the plant while one hundred pounds of lavender plant material produces a pound of essential oil. Because their concentrations need to be high, tons and tons of plant material are required in the process.

A lot of them should not applied on the skin surface undiluted. They need to be used together with alcohols, butter, waxes and other products used in the dilution process. If used undiluted they may cause unfortunate skin reactions. However, there are some which are not so harmful when used in high concentrations. This class contains products like rose geranium, sandalwood, tea tree, German chamomile and lavender.
