Fine powders, which are produced from trees, flowers or grass, have been known to affect quite a good number of individuals. When breathed in, the powder tends to cause adversities in the immune system. Since the immune system operates by defending the body, an individual with Atlanta pollen allergy will exhibit symptoms which come as a result of chemical production.

The reaction is usually known as an allergic reaction. The type of pollen, which causes this, is referred to as the allergen. Individuals with such reaction experience a number of irritating symptoms ranging from sneezing, watery eyes to stuffy nose. Pollen allergies affect a huge percentage of both adults and children in Atlanta. Once it has developed, it is unlikely that the allergy will go away.

There are various types of pollen allergies. Understanding the type of pollen an individual is allergic to helps in combating it. To start with, one of them is known as the birch pollen allergy. This is mostly common during the winter season. When the trees bloom, tiny pollen grains are usually scattered via the wind.

Another type of allergy stems from oak trees. In this case, they are common during the spring. Pollen grains from oak trees are deposited in the air in large quantities during this season. However, experts argue that they cause mild allergies compared to grains from other plants.

Seeking medication is the best thing to do when you intend to control the symptoms. In this case, an individual can use nasal steroids to spray into his or her nose. This will help in reducing the spontaneity of sneezing and itchiness in the nose. For combating histamine, which is a chemical produced by the body, antihistamines may be used. These medication alternatives may also come in form of solid or even liquid.

Decongestants can also be taken to unclog stuffy nose. It is however recommended that they are not used for more than three days in a row. Such an action facilitates rebounding of the congestion. Possible side effects of decongestants include an increased heart rate and blood pressure. People with such problems should not use such medications.

Long term control of the symptoms can also be achieved by going for allergy shots. Here, the practitioner will introduce a tiny amount of an allergen to the body of the individual. Such shots should continue for several months to assess whether the occurrence is symptoms is still as it was before. This comes a long way in making them disappear permanently. When they failure to go, further treatment procedures should be implemented.
